Scenes from Dada Luz

It was astronomer and NASA space adviser, Carl Sagan, who persuaded NASA scientists, in 1990, to turn the Voyager 1 spaceship around as it passed the orbit of Neptune some 3.7 Billion miles from Earth and take a photograph. The resulting image was a tiny pale blue dot caught in a sunbeam -planet Earth. Sagan wrote a book entitled ‘Pale Blue Dot’. There are many famous quotes from that book. This is my favourite.

‘Think of the rivers of blood spilled by generals and emperors so that in glory and triumph they could become momentary masters of a fraction of a dot’.

Great power is an illusion. Chill out. Be kind. Make art.

The Dada Luz project imagines an ancient civilisation where people have evolved to understand this reality and act accordingly. Between 26 Oct and 7 Novemeber 2026 there will be an exhibition of the art and performance of Dada Luz at Bear Steps Gallery in Shrewsbury. In the meantime, here is a first look at one of the mysterious art-stories of the Dada Luz civilisation

About Harvey Taylor

Hi. I'm Harvey Taylor. I moved to Shrewsbury in September 2021. In between supporting adults with learning difficulties, and staring into space, I also create. You can view some of my recent forays into acrylics, collage and video alongside older poetry, ancient blog posts and general madness. I also look after an elephant called Uncle Oojah who celebrated his 100th anniversary on 18th Feb 2019. Check him out www.uncleoojah.com
